Best Swim Parkas for 2025 (Tested by a World Championship Swimmer)

A swim parka is one of those pieces of gear that separates serious competitive swimmers from casual lap swimmers. When you’re standing on deck at 5:30 a.m. in a cold natatorium, or waiting between races at an outdoor meet with wet hair and damp skin, a quality parka is essential. I’ve been competitive swimming since age 8, raced at the 2008 and 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, earned a silver medal at the 2008 FINA World Championships in the 4x100 medley relay, and currently hold the American Record in the 100 yard butterfly for ages 35–39. I’ve worn swim parkas at every level of the sport from high school to international competition.

The best swim parkas combine serious warmth with a design that works on deck — easy on and off over wet suits, durable enough to survive years of chlorine exposure, and long enough to actually keep you warm. Here are my top 5 swim parkas for 2025.

#1 Speedo Turnz Parka — Best Overall (~$60–70)

The Speedo Turnz Parka has been a standard at competitive swim meets for years, and for good reason. It’s long enough to cover your legs when you’re sitting on the bleachers, the nylon shell repels water so you don’t soak through after getting out of the pool, and the interior fleece lining holds heat effectively even in cold outdoor environments. The kangaroo pocket is large enough to hold a phone and keys, and the thumb holes in the cuffs keep the sleeves from sliding up. It’s the most reliable, proven parka on the market.

#2 TYR Hurricane Parka — Best for Warmth (~$80–90)

The TYR Hurricane is the warmest parka on this list. The double-layer construction traps significantly more heat than standard single-layer parkas, making it the right choice for cold outdoor meets or early morning winter practices. The hood is deep enough to actually cover your head and keep wind out, and the full-length zipper makes it easy to get on and off over a wet suit. It runs a bit heavy, but if warmth is your priority, nothing beats it.

#3 Arena Pro Parka — Best Budget (~$45–55)

The Arena Pro Parka delivers serious warmth at a price point that makes it accessible for age-group swimmers and high school teams. The polyester shell is water-resistant and durable, with a full-length zipper that opens wide enough to pull on and off over a wet swimsuit quickly. The interior is fleece-lined for warmth, and the two hand pockets are deep enough to keep your hands warm on cold morning decks. It runs a little shorter than premium parkas, but for the price, it's the best value on the market.

#4 Deboer Swim Parka — My Training Brand

Deboer Swim is the brand I train with as a member of their Team Elite program. Their parka is built for serious competitive swimmers — it's long enough to cover your thighs, warm enough for cold outdoor meets, and designed to pull on and off quickly between warmup and race. The construction is premium, the fit is athletic, and it holds up through a full season of training and competition. If you're a competitive swimmer looking for a parka that's built to the same standards as your racing gear, this is it.

#5 Kiefer Mega Parka — Best for Tall Swimmers (~$70–80)

The Kiefer Mega Parka is the go-to choice for taller swimmers who have never found a parka that actually covers them. At extra-long length, it hits mid-thigh on swimmers over 6'2", where most parkas stop at the hip. The nylon exterior is wind-resistant, the interior fleece is dense and warm, and the front zipper is heavy-duty enough to survive years of competitive swimming. It also comes in extended sizes, making it one of the few parkas designed with big and tall swimmers in mind.
